How does CatalogVigil stay free?

The complete CSV checker remains free. CatalogVigil can be funded by optional tips, clearly labelled affiliate links on educational pages, a separate commercial self-hosted kit, and—only after approval and privacy review—limited ads outside the checker and its results.

Voluntary support

A tip is optional and does not unlock validation rules, improve a result, or change support priority. If the support button is available, it opens the operator's external Ko-fi page; that provider and its payment processor handle the transaction under their own terms.

Affiliate links

Some educational pages may include a link to Shopify for readers who do not yet have a store. Every such placement is labelled “Affiliate link” and uses the sponsored-link attribute. CatalogVigil may earn a commission from a qualifying referral without changing the visitor's price. Affiliate status never changes validation findings, source summaries, or recommendations.

Advertising policy

No advertising script is loaded in the default build. If advertising is activated after network approval, it will be limited to educational and reference pages—not the file picker, findings, fixes, or exports. Ads will be visually labelled, must not mimic controls, and must not receive catalogue rows, file names, SKUs, handles, titles, URLs, or findings.

For visitors in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, any Google advertising activation also requires an appropriate Google-certified consent platform and an updated privacy notice before personalised ads are requested.

Commercial kit

The CatalogVigil Agency Kit is a separate downloadable product for agencies that want a self-hosted deployment, source package, tests, and commercial-use licence. The public checker's findings do not promote or withhold results to increase sales.

Report an unclear disclosure, unsuitable placement, or perceived editorial conflict to catalogvigil@gmail.com. Do not attach a private catalogue.
